Follow these steps to add initial fields to your proposal text sections:
Navigate to Your Project and Proposal:
From the main dashboard, select Projects from the left-hand navigation menu.
Locate and click on the project you wish to modify.
Within the project, navigate to the Proposal tab or section. If you're editing an existing proposal, click on it to open.
Enter Edit Mode for a Text Section:
Once viewing the proposal, if it's not already in edit mode, click the Edit button (often found in the top right or associated with the proposal document).
Scroll to the text section where you want to add an initial field (e.g., Acceptance, Terms and Conditions, or any custom text block).
Click the three-dot menu (ellipsis) or an Edit icon associated with that specific text section to open the editor.
Insert the Initial Field Tag:
In the text editor for the selected section, place your cursor exactly where you want the initial line to appear.
Type the following shortcode:
`` [init] ``This tag will be replaced by a line for initials on the final proposal. You can add multiple
[init]tags throughout your proposal sections if needed.Click Done or the equivalent button to close the text section editor.
Save Your Proposal Changes:
After adding all desired initial fields, click the main Save button for the proposal (usually located at the top right of the proposal editing interface). This will save all modifications, including the newly added initial fields.
Verify the Initial Field:
Once saved, the proposal will display an underlined space where you inserted the
[init]tag, indicating an initial field. When your customer views and signs the proposal, they will be prompted to provide their initials in these designated spots. Upon signature, their typed initials will populate these fields.
Insight: Previously, initial fields on web proposals would only appear if optional services were included. Now, an initial section will appear if there are optional services or if you've manually added an [init] tag to any text block, giving you more control over proposal acknowledgments.
Troubleshooting
Initial field not appearing:
Double-check that you've typed the shortcode exactly as
[init], including the square brackets.Ensure you have saved the text section and the overall proposal after adding the tag.
Initial line appears but customer cannot initial:
This is unlikely if the line is visible. Ensure the customer is in the signing phase of the proposal. The system will automatically prompt for initials during the signing workflow.
